Boca Raton, Fla. – Patriot Rail Corp. (“Patriot”), a short line and regional freight railroad holding company, today announced two new additions to its management team: Robert I. Schellig, Jr. was named Vice President – Law; and Matt McGrath was named Director of Operations Integration.

Schellig brings to Patriot over 37 years of regulatory compliance, government relations, acquisitions and divestitures, contract administration, and litigation experience in the transportation and criminal law areas.  For 14 years he was with Canadian National Railway (“CN”) and its U.S. railroad subsidiaries, which included the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, Central Vermont Railway and the Duluth Winnipeg & Pacific Railroad.  With CN, he was Corporate General Manager in the executive department and Corporate Attorney in the legal department.  From 2001-2005, Schellig served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Lapeer County (Michigan) Prosecutor’s Office, where he acted as first chair trial counsel in major felony prosecutions.  He was also in private practice for several years, specializing in corporate and regulatory law for short line railroads and transportation-related companies.  Schellig holds a Juris Doctor degree, with Honors, from Michigan State University (Detroit College of Law) and a B.A. from Albion College in Michigan.

McGrath has over 16 years of experience in the transportation industry.  During his career, he has held numerous management positions in rail operations, dedicated logistics, project management and purchasing.  For the past seven years he was employed by Patriot’s railroad subsidiary, the Utah Central Railway, where he worked as an operations manager, trainmaster, station agent, brakeman, conductor, engineer and purchasing manager.  Prior to that, McGrath was responsible for truck fleet management and dedicated logistics for KLLM Transport Services in Jackson, Mississippi.  At Patriot, he will be responsible for overseeing the integration of newly acquired railroads – working closely with new customers and personnel, providing employee safety training, and supervising all administrative and operations functions.

“I am pleased to announce the addition of Bob and Matt to the Patriot management team,” said Gary O. Marino, Chairman, President & CEO of Patriot Rail.  “Bob is an exceptional attorney with a broad understanding of various transportation-related issues, and his vast experience and leadership skills will enable him to successfully carry out the legal initiatives at Patriot.  Matt brings to Patriot extensive rail operations experience, which will enable him to safely and quickly integrate short line railroads that are acquired through our growth plan.”
